2012 Young Masters Art Prize Winner, Lottie Davies, proved to be a colossal success at Art Hamptons last week, where two of her works were acquired by two major US collectors.
Full of some of the most successful art collectors and gallerists around, ArtHamptons is now in its sixth year and continues to attract huge crowds of art lovers and connoisseurs.
Davies’ large photographic images, which drew streams of public attention, are in the format of a widescreen cinema and are designed to prompt the viewer into expecting a story hidden in the scene presented to them. The way in which we view the Old Masters, described by the artist as ‘looking habits’, is not a result of an understanding of art history in her eyes, but rather a reflection of our everyday ‘visual consumption’.
Huge congratulations to Lottie!
