The interim Young Masters @ SPHINX exhibition was held at Sphinx Fine Art to launch the Young Masters Art Prize 2012. This exhibition presented a range of artists who challenge contemporary modes of artistic practice and reflect back on the genius of the Old Masters. This contemporary work shown alongside masterpieces from Sphinx’s own Old Master collection. Whether celebratory or irreverent, these emerging artists, juxtaposed with their predecessors, prompted novel insight into the dynamic tradition of hierarchies in the art-historical canon.
An exciting range of artists responded directly to the collection held by Sphinx and explore the realms of historical narrative, portraiture, landscape and still life.
